  • HPEDC broadens its outreach to the Bronx County by relocating its Bronx Women’s Business Center to a central Bronx location, and substantially increases its outreach to the entirety of the borough of The Bronx through successful partnerships including Lehman College/CUNY, the New York Public Library of Fordham Road, and a collaboration with the US White House Entrepreneurship Summit in August 2011.
  • The Hunts Point Streetscape Improvements are due to be completed by year end. This project includes treed medians, bike lanes and lighting, and is transforming the physical landscape of Hunts Point and significantly raising the quality of life for its residents. HPEDC had raised the initial $2.1 million for this project from State and Federal sources.
  • HPEDC expands its industrial park assistance activities to the industrial area of Zerega, Bronx, adding another 150 businesses to our portfolio.
  • HPEDC expands its Chamber of Commerce, renaming it the Greater Hunts Point Chamber of Commerce, bringing in new partnerships and resources from expert food industry service providers to better serve our Members.
  • HPEDC joins the Community Planning Board #2 as a Full Voting Member. The Board handles local matters impacting over 50,000 residents and 700 industrial businesses.

 

2010

 

  • HPEDC celebrates 15 years of administration of Empire Zone program. HPEDC helped 300+ businesses obtain certification and access tax credits, leveraging the creation of 5000+ net new jobs and $300+ million in private investment.
  • HPEDC launches Entrepreneurship Center in collaboration with Monroe College. Center will assist Bronx minority and women entrepreneurs in starting a business and obtain financing.
  • HPEDC starts a comprehensive initiative to promote energy efficiency and new sources of energy for Hunts Point companies. As a result, Victory Foodservice Dist. Corp. becomes one of the first HP companies to install a 5,000 sf solar panel system on its roof.
  • HPEDC will release the Hunts Pont Green Fleets Study; an ambitious project to help convert Hunts Point Truck fleets to alternative, energy-saving and environment-friendly technologies.
